There are four main components of blood - red blood cells, plasma, platelets
and white blood cells.
• Red Blood Cells – Carry oxygen and nutrients
to body cells.
• Plasma – Plasma contains proteins. They
act in body defense and blood clotting. It helps in the treatment of
bleeding disorders.
• Platelets – Platelets act controlling
bleedings.
• White Blood Cells – act against infections.
Hematology
studies the diseases of the Hematopoietic System and all the disorders
affecting Blood Cells. Hematology also studies coagulation disorders.
