Patients with leukemia, aplastic anemia, lymphomas, myeloma and other hematologic and oncologic diseases may need a medical procedure called Bone Marrow Transplantation.

HEMORIO is the collecting center in Rio de Janeiro for the National Registry of Bone Marrow Volunteers Donors (REDOME).

If you want to become a Bone Marrow Donor there are two options:

You can have an appointment at HEMORIO to attend a lecture about becoming a bone marrow donor. Then, if you decide to become a donor, you will have a sample (5 ml) collected to be tested for the HLA System.

You can donate blood and become a Blood Marrow Donor.

In both ways, you will be registered in REDOME. In the future, if you have a HLA match with some patient who needs a transplant, you may be called to donate a certain volume of your Bone Marrow.

Please call 0800 282 0708, Mondays to Fridays, from 7 am to 6 pm, and make an appointment to become a Bone Marrow Donor.

If you do not want to listen to this lecture, you can register yourself, Mondays to Fridays, from 8 am to 12 am, at the Blood Center (1st floor).
